Wild Horse and Burro Program System Reports

The Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971 authorizes and directs the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to manage and protect wild horses and burros on the nation’s public rangelands to ensure healthy herds and healthy rangelands. The Wild Horse & Burro Program System (WHBPS) is a web-based application supporting all business processes of the WHB Program and is the system of record for animal and herd management.  Information is collected on herd areas, herd management areas, and territories, removals, facility management, animal transport, adoptions, training, sales, transfers, compliance, and titling. Important Note About the Report Data The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) provides the Wild Horse and Burro Program System (WHBPS) Public Dashboard as a public resource for accessing certain data related to Wild Horse and Burro Program activities and operations. While the BLM strives to ensure that the report data is accurate and complete, some information may be revised or corrected over time. The WHBPS, launched in 2009, integrated records from earlier systems. Since then, new data fields and standards have been introduced over time to enhance accuracy and consistency. Users should be aware that some older records may reflect legacy data limitations. For official records or further clarification, please contact the BLM directly at 866-468-7826 or [email protected].
